    Ingrown Nail

(**Call for Permanent Correction and Guarantee Details)

Ingrown nails are caused when the nail actually penetrates the skin and usually results in a local infection. Initial treatment may require oral antibiotics, foot soaks and applying antibiotic cream, but the majority of ingrown nails will require treatment by your podiatrist. Once the nail infection looks like either of the pictures above the treatment will require podiatric care…unless of course you can withstand a great deal of pain and cut it out yourself…but I don’t recommend that. Don't forget that unless the piece of nail that is causing the ingrown toenail is removed, the infection is likely to persist. My best analogy to the treatment of infected ingrown nails is that by putting a band-aid over a nail in a tire it will not slow the leak or solve the problem. The nail must be removed. Same for the ingrown nail. The good news is that only a portion of the nail must be trimmed off, usually not the entire nail. A skilled Podiatrist can easily remove the corner or spike that has penetrated the skin, often with relatively little discomfort. If the ingrown nail is too painful, a local anesthetic may be needed to do this. Don't forget that unless the offending piece of nail that is causing the ingrown toe nail is removed, the infection is likely to persist. And you will also be glad to hear that there is permanent cure for the chronic, recurrent ingrown nail. It involves treating part of the nail root with a chemical to kill the corner of the nail. You’ll also be glad to know that we are the only Podiatrist office that offers a Permanent and Guaranteed Correction of ingrown nails. Be sure to call for details.

As far as the aftercare goes, it is rare that you can’t return to regular activities the next day or within a couple days at the most. Be sure to give us a call and we can answer any questions you may have. Remember, we are here for you, and to make your foot care treatment experience as easy and relaxed as possible. Call today for this simple office procedure and end your ingrown nail pain today.
